This week has been tough for Alison as she isn’t very good at coping with change so, having got through the first week of working from home without reaching for a glass of wine every evening is brilliant and I’m really proud of her.

Week 3. I did feel like having a few drinks this week but, actually, afterwards they made me feel like I was coming down with a cold so I drank things like Honey Rum. I have had 3 Alcohol-free Days this week, which is my goal. That said, I DID come down with a cold and had to cancel a gig on Saturday which upset me so much!! In terms of being kind to my family and friends I have actually been really proud of myself and have tried really hard not to talk over people, to listen and sympathise and I've felt so much better for that. I was designated driver last Sunday when I could have had a drink so I'm chuffed all round. Having said that: I haven't gained or lost weight for the past 3 weeks so that's getting me down a bit. Maybe I'll see more of a change this week, as I doubt I will feel like drinking any alcohol. My scores are as follows: 1) Cutting down on Drinking Socially: A, 2) Designated Driver: A, Alcohol-free Days in a Week: A. Therefore, I give myself the following Grade: A

Well done, Ali. I know you’re finding the Drink Aware app awkward but stick with it. You’ll get the hang of it. I think you still need to be mindful of your parents’ insecurities. Remember to breathe and try to see things from their perspective. Good job

Week 2 and I am trying really hard not to sabotage myself. I had 3 drink-free days (inc gig day because I didn't have any drinks until I got home from our gig on the Sunday). I actually didn't go mad at all over the weekend and was designated driver when it mattered. When I was in the same room as my family I consciously tried not to get bad-tempered - managed until nearly time to go home. Mum is really starting to get on everyone's nerves with her panic about the Election and Dad is so deaf and on another planet that it is so hard not to get frustrated. I did my best but could do better. Here are my results: 1) Cutting down on Drinking Socially: B, 2) Designated Driver: B, 3) Alcohol-free Days in a Week: A. Therefore, I give myself the following Grade: B

Well done Ali. I can tell you’re really thinking about this positively. Keep it going without denying yourself a reward occasionally The more you do this the more it will become a good habit.

I'm finding the Alcohol Tracker to be a bit of a pain because even thought I've put in my No Alcohol Days, it's not registering them but I'm going to persevere because I think it's important. So this week I have been good without being obsessed. I've treated myself and been restrained at the same time. I have had no outbursts which were alcohol related and, when I did have a drink on our Friday night out with Terry I enjoyed the drinks I had and didn't chastise myself because I took on plenty of water and didn't have a hangover. I didn't see my sister, either, which is always a recipe for disaster when we've both been drinking. Also, I was designated driver twice this week and didn't flinch, when others were drinking, or change my mind. So to the scores: 1) Cutting down on Drinking Socially: B+; 2)Designated Driver: A; 3) Alcohol-free Days in a Week: B. Therefore, I give myself the following Grade:B

Alison has had a good week with 4 alcohol free days and was designated driver on Saturday. She has been mindful of what she is drinking by completing her Drink Aware App. Good job. 100%

I have started to use an Alcohol Tracker App which has been developed by the UK Drink Aware people. It's great because it not only tracks the exact thing you're drinking but you can keep a tally of how much it's costing you, the calories you intake and the equivalent amount of exercise you need to work it off. Scary! In terms of my progress I'm going to Grade each part of my Commitment each week. So here is the first week's results: 1)Cutting down on Drinking Socially: A, 2)Designated Driver A, 3) 3 Alcohol-free days in the Week: A. Therefore, I give myself the following Grade: A
