Lie detector and its fail rate: 40% of innocents are wrongly accused based on test results. Certain facial muscles can only be triggered by experiencing true emotions, not faking them. |

Page 343. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, self-determination: the theory of Deci and Ryan. Experiment with 2 groups of people, playing puzzle games. The one playing for recompensation was less motivated to play for longer periods than the one that was playing just for the joy of it Intrinsic motivation and cooperation. Experiment with students in a group of two. Some groups were competing with each other (meaning, one student was competing with another in the same group), some groups were playing in cooperation. The cooperating groups had much stronger persistence in attempts to win and higher success scores. Amongst those groups, the persistence was stronger if the success rate was higher. Winning motivates to try harder. Demotivation, rebellion and escape. |
