Went out strong this week with three days in a row walking over 10,000 steps. Two days in D.C. with walks down to the Mall and museum-going. Yesterday was a solid hour workout in a pattern that goes well, when I can find the time: elliptical, machines for my arm, and treadmill. Not a perfect StickK contract, but I'm still pleased.

I did do it this week, although not as splendidly as I'd have liked. School start-up interfered, as did Labor Day's early closing of the Y. That said, my overall activity level feels "up." When I'm back at work, walking around the lecture room, it's easy to get 5,000 steps (this summer, default was 700). One work-out was walking to the President's reception -- the sort of thing I should do more routinely. Pulled out the FitBoard to get in some activity at home. So, fewer sessions at the gym, but more activity overall. New goals are forming.

Did it, and early in the week so that there was no anxiety. Established a routine of 35 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes or so at the machines, and another 1000 -ish steps on the treadmill, to bring my time up to nearly an hour (well, on my best days). Working on the machines -- very carefully -- was really good for my shoulder. The last few days have been remarkably less painful in that area. Hope I can keep it going now that school as started.

Planning ahead is the key. Now this week, as we rev up to school schedule, finding the time will be the question.
