I met my commitment and did some thinking about how I work and stick to goals.

I'm still keeping my commitments. I noodle around on Facebook but not enough to lead me away from the commitment.

Thinking about what I said yesterday, that the desire for a high level of productivity runs on the same fuel as the desire to avoid work. Speaking for myself, there is underneath both a sense that I am trying to elude a captor. When I procrastinate, I am avoiding the pain of responsibilities, the possibility of not doing well (raising the prospect of all the self-fulfilling prophecies of procrastination). But there is also a tiny knocking fear of disappointment when I am getting things done--maybe this isn't the right work, that there is perhaps no right work, or right choice. And maybe there is no answer to that question. And perhaps it doesn't matter either way. So.

I've continued to keep my commitment. I've avoided the "red" sites since Monday.

I haven't set any real designated times to "yellow-light" sites very long but I'm not on very long. I play with Facebook or Amazon books from time to time during the day, usually as breaks between work I'm doing.

I listen the iTunes or radio but turn them off when it interferes with work.

I've met my commitment so far today, though I've noticed that I can spend time on "yellow" websites without minding how much time I spend there. (Explainer: "yellow" sites are those that eat up time but whose use are easier to control. See commitment for details. "Red" sites I'm trying to avoid altogether.)

The heat wave this past week has made it hard to sleep at night, which leaves me grasping at things to do late at night. I read on and off, pace, splash water on my face, but also visit yellow sites for a ten minutes or so at a time.

Still, after two days, I'm surprised at how much time has been suddenly opened up during the day. I don't spend as much time at night trying to catch up with work. At the same time, the more work I get done, the more work I find I have to do--leaving me trying to do more and more. Good problem to have, but the other side of the same coin, right?

The bigger question: coping with life online. Enough for now.
