Tuesday of Psyching Out the Maze Star this Commitment

wrkinprogrss commits to:
waiting until at least 5:30pm before I do any recreational reading or any audiobook listening, today. I will experiment with viewing job work as my highest priority between now and then. I will allow myself to listen to music at any time, but I won't use the mp3 player before 5:30pm.

If I need a break from job work, after working steadily for at least 30 minutes, I can read and respond to one stickk item at a time, prepare th h/w, do some Qi Gong or dancing, do some housework, do up to three separate timed 10-minute research stints on the web related to my Joy Diet meditations/plans from yesterday or this morning, take a 6-minute rest break, do a little singing, do some brief cartooning or haiku-writing experiments, or spend one or two 6-minute breaks (with a timer on!) experimenting with my new camera.

One way or another, I will mail my tax authorization forms to my preparer, today.

After my 6:00pm appointment, I will not do any recreational reading by eye until after I have a batch of soup cooking.

To support myself in getting a full night's sleep, I will not do any recreational reading after 10:32pm, tonight. If I use my 9:30 internet window, I will not listen to any audio after I get up from the computer, whether that's at 10:32pm or sometime in the previous hour. My intent will be to be in bed with the lights out by 11:15pm.

Actually, I've been putting my hoped-for bedtimes in my goals as "intents" rather than commitments, and am not counting intent failures as stickk goal commitment failures. When I was committing to specific bedtimes, I wasn't doing well at hitting them. (At least, that's how I remember it now.) I fear that if I commit to, say, a 1:30am bedtime, that I'll take that as a license to stay up to 1:30am, which would be counterproductive. Do you have a different perspective on that? Thanks for commenting!

Ooo, love this title. Sounds like it went great too. I am continually inspired by how specific and detailed you make your daily goals. Question: Have you considered moving your goal bedtime temporarily closer to your average actual bedtime, i.e., making that goal easier for now, to cash in more successes?

Kept this goal's conditions re no recreational reading or audio after 10:32--did some Joy Diet journaling and a bit of research reading/browsing related to that, which I'm not counting as recreational. Turned the lights off at about 12:40am, which is substantially later than I had hoped for, but earlier than most of the last week's bedtimes. Definitely calling it a success.

Pulled tonight's cloud photos off the camera and experimented with cropping them. Now uploading several.
