Wednesday of Cresting the Hill Star this Commitment

wrkinprogrss commits to:
waiting until at least 6:30pm to do any recreational reading or any non-Joy-Diet audiobook listening, today. I will not check *any* LJ pages until 6:30pm or later. I will allow myself to listen to music at any time, but if I use the mp3 player before 6:30pm, it will only be for Joy Diet note-taking. Until that time, I will experiment with doing small bits of constructive work for the job, giving myself small rewards after each chunk accomplished.

Rewards can include reading and responding to one of Aase's stickk comments/messages (only one reading/response per chunk of work accomplished!), writing a haiku, singing for three minutes or so, doing some Qi Gong, drawing a fast cartoon, doing a little more journaling, listening to and taking notes on a little bit of Joy Diet item #5, or taking a rest break of up to 6 minutes (no audio or reading during rest breaks).

I will make notes, here, about how this process goes for me, particularly which rewards feel rewarding and what contributes to momentum in accomplishing work tasks.

To support myself in getting a full night's sleep, I will not do any recreational reading after 10:32pm, tonight. If I use my 9:30 internet window, I will not listen to any audio after I get up from the computer, whether that's at 10:32pm or sometime in the previous hour. My aim will be to be in bed with the lights out by 11:15pm.

Thanks for the recommendation re the Introvert Advantage. I don't think I've heard of that one, before, but my town's library does have a copy. I'll try to take a look at it next time I go in!

*rubs hands together* Let's see. You like Johnny Cash. Do you know Bonnie Raitt? Here's one of her old ones that I like: http://mp3.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=tra.22224087 (Give It Up). Oh, and how about Sweet Honey in the Rock (gospel)? Here's one of their old ones: http://mp3.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=tra.1975433 (Biko). Oh, and how about a little Flamenco/Moroccan: http://mp3.rhapsody.com/goto?rcid=tra.26925182. Hope you enjoy them!

Yes, I'd enjoy more links from time to time, any tune/artist you particularly like or are "into" at the time. To keep broadening my horizons. :) Oh and re being introverts: "The Introvert Advantage" is a really neat book which aims to counteract some of the pro-extrovertion tendencies out there. http://bit.ly/8RFGJ Fairly classic, maybe library has it?
