Tuesday of Balanced Exploration Star this Commitment

wrkinprogrss commits to:
waiting until at least 5:30pm to do any further recreational reading or any non-Joy-Diet audiobook listening, today. I will not check *any* LJ pages until 5:30pm or later. Until that time, I will experiment with doing job work as my main priority. If I need a break, I can choose from house work, Qi Gong or other gentle exercise, tax work, journaling, Joy Diet note-taking, th h/w prep, brief cartooning, or possibly composing a note to T&N or E. I will allow myself to listen to music at any time, but if I use the mp3 player before 5:30pm, it will only be for Joy Diet note-taking.

After my 6:00pm-7:00pm appointment, I will return library books, and will do my best to remember and choose not to browse the stacks, this time. After getting home, I will not do any recreational reading by eye until after I have completely started a batch of soup cooking.

To support myself in getting a full night's sleep, I will not listen to any audio or do any recreational reading after 10:32pm. My aim for that will be to be in bed with the lights out BEFORE last night's bedtime of 11:35pm.

Oo, thank you! I'm glad to know about those training guidelines! *makes a note* I definitely tend to want too much, too soon!

I know what you mean. I sometimes use some guidelines I've learned from dog training (really, applied behavior analysis): Aim for a success rate of about 80% before making things harder, and "split criteria" - train small bits of the desired behavior(s) separately - at first, and even more if you run into problems. Most people tend to "lump" when training both themselves and other organisms - we want too much, too soon!

Thanks. :-) I find it kind of a challenge to figure out how much detail is useful and how much is too much.
