Star this Commitment
wrkinprogrss commits to:
concentrate on real-world concerns and issues except between 9:30pm and 10:32pm, today. I will not consume any kind of fiction except in that time period. I also commit to trying to notice any feelings or situations that immediately precede any cravings for escape into fiction, at any time when those may occur.
I also commit to wait until after my appointment with N before listening to any audio-books, today. I commit to doing ONLY preparation for bed or journaling in bed between 10:32pm and 11:00pm, and I commit to being in bed with the lights out by 11:00pm.

Did OK with avoiding fiction except in the designated hour, and avoiding audio-books until after N appointment. But took an extra half hour to get to bed--lights were out at about 11:30pm, instead of 11:00pm. Note that it really doesn't work to have anything other than prep for bed in a scheduled half hour between computer off and lights out -- cooling the soup gave me time to munch a bit, and listening to more (non-fic) audio probably also drew out the time. It would be best not to listen to audiobooks in that half-hour, either, in the future. Not sure why I had such a hard time concentrating on work, though info-merge and lack of hands-on familiarity probably contributed. This one has to be called a failure, though it's not a bad one. Feeling pretty uninclined to set another goal for today, though. Not sure what to do about that. |
