Real-World Experiment Day 21
Star this Commitment
wrkinprogrss commits to:
concentrate on real world concerns and constructive actions until at least 9:30pm, today -- I will not read, watch, write, or listen to fictional works except between 9:30pm and 10:32pm, today, and then only if I have accomplished the following, first:
- updated the review draft for work, and - washed the bathroom sink and 3 wrist braces. I also commit to trying to notice any feelings or situations that immediately precede any cravings for escape into fiction, at any time when those may occur. I commit to turning the computer off and starting preparations for bed by 10:32pm, sharp, and I commit to be in bed with the lights out by 11:00pm.

| I think I have to call this one a qualified failure, rather than a qualified success. I did well (if not perfectly) at controlling my fiction intake and noticing hankerings in the kitchen, but didn't finish what I intended and didn't have the lights out until 11:25pm. I think this goal was a little too big, and missing the other parts contributed to my slowness in achieving the planned bedtime. I want to choose my next goal to be more achievable. This ambitious goal did keep me working more than I wanted to, on this day, but I don't think that's a very sustainable strategy for longer time periods. Sigh. But, still, only a few minutes of fic vid watching all day! | |

| Ahem. 55 minutes on sfgate and Gaiman's blog, and a toe over the line by watching a Neverwhere clip at the latter. Not sure if this day will go down as a success (due to MOSTLY avoiding fiction) or a failure (due to not finishing the update and handwashing). Too much for one day, I guess. | |
